Daily Insights: True Friendship!

True friends are a blessings - they are gems that find a little place in your heart! It does not matter when you last you saw them, or how often you speak to them - they will always be a true friend.

A true friend is someone that brings you happiness. There is a feeling of shared interconnectedness. A true friend is a helper, they will protect us, and bring us refuge when we are afraid. They are also someone that is constant in our time of happiness and in our times of sadness. They will keep our secrets safe, as well as be completely open and honest to us.

There is no way to measure a friendship, nor should it be necessary to measure a friendship - if you feel the desire to grab the ruler, scale or measuring tape to measure any friendship - then, you should possibly consider that it not a friendship but, rather an obsession.

True friendship is not based on the amount of time spent together, nor the amount of conversations you have in a day, week or year.

True friendships do not have an expiry date. It does not matter whether 10-years have past and not a word has been mutter.

In a true friendship there should be no expectations nor demands. Only total understanding.

To know how to be a true friend - is knowing how to be a friend to yourself and as well as to others.

"Old friends pass away, new friends appear. It is just like the days. An old day passes, a new day arrives. The important thing is to make it meaningful, a meaningful friend, or a meaningful day." ~ Dalai Lama

To all my true friends!

Daily Insight: Soul Smudging!

Have you ever used a lint roller? Only after a few passes over your clothes, and you pick up small to large pieces of debris. Well, our energy fields are just like lint rollers - whenever you go venture outside of your sacred space - you immediately being to pick up energetic debris that can leave us feeling a little unbalanced. Smudging is a great way to clear your energy fields or space from this debris.

What is smudging?

Traditionally smudging was practiced by Shamans using a bundle of smoldering dried herbs (typically sage) - the smoke from the smoldering herbs is used to clear the space or persons aura.

How to Smudge:

1. Create a safe place - open a windows or do it in your garden.

2. Set an intention and say a pray for protection.

3. Light a candle.

4. Then light the bundle of dried herbs (you can combine other herbs into the sage, such as lavender, rosemary, cedar) - let it burn for just a few seconds before blowing out the flame.

5. Hold the smoldering bundle in one hand, and with the other hand wave the smoke over yourself.

6. When you have completed smudging your entire aura/space - safely dispose of the herbs and blow out the candle. Then seal the ritual with a closing prayer of protection.

Take note of how you feel before you begin the smudging practice and then, how you feel after.

It is recommended to practice smudging regularly and most definitely when you feel that your energy is drained or you are experiencing something that seems unusual for your character.

“May your days be many and your troubles be few. May all God's blessings descend upon you. May peace be within you may your heart be strong. May you find what you're seeking wherever you roam.” ~ Irish blessing

Smudge with care!
