A true friend is someone that brings you happiness. There is a feeling of shared interconnectedness. A true friend is a helper, they will protect us, and bring us refuge when we are afraid. They are also someone that is constant in our time of happiness and in our times of sadness. They will keep our secrets safe, as well as be completely open and honest to us.
There is no way to measure a friendship, nor should it be necessary to measure a friendship - if you feel the desire to grab the ruler, scale or measuring tape to measure any friendship - then, you should possibly consider that it not a friendship but, rather an obsession.
True friendship is not based on the amount of time spent together, nor the amount of conversations you have in a day, week or year.
True friendships do not have an expiry date. It does not matter whether 10-years have past and not a word has been mutter.
In a true friendship there should be no expectations nor demands. Only total understanding.
To know how to be a true friend - is knowing how to be a friend to yourself and as well as to others.
"Old friends pass away, new friends appear. It is just like the days. An old day passes, a new day arrives. The important thing is to make it meaningful, a meaningful friend, or a meaningful day." ~ Dalai Lama
To all my true friends!
