Daily Meditation: Breathing Meditation

When the breath wanders the mind also is unsteady. But when the breath is calmed the mind too will be still, and the yogi achieves long life. Therefore, one should learn to control the breath. ~ Svatmarama, Hatha Yoga Pradipika

How To Do a Simple Breath Meditation

1. Sit comfortably for a moment.
2. Close your eyes, and begin to let your mind connect with your breath. Just feel the sensations of the air coming in, expanding your lungs, and then your lungs releasing the air.
3. Now, begin to breathe through your nose - feel the warmth and coolness of the air on the top of your upper lip during inhalation and exhalation.
4. Once, you become aware of the feeling of the cold and warm air on the top lip, do nothing else but concentrate on the sensation.
5. Tell your mind to simple concentrate of the sensation for 9 breaths in and 9 breaths out.

namaste!
